If you haven’t been banned from most social media, you’re not much of a leftist.Reddit was a plague on my mental health, getting off it was a bit of withdrawal, but I’m in a better place without it. Nowadays I always have a literal book with me for times when I have a few minutes to kill. It’s soooooo relaxing and so much better for my wellbeing.

It’s amazing how much of a difference it makes to be reading versus mindlessly browsing/consuming content is. I love Hexbear and one of my favorite things about it is the fact that there’s not this endless supply of slop to choke down, at a certain point you run out of content, which is great. There’s not a goddamn rabbit hole to jump down from whence I’ll not return in hours, there are posts that have some discussion but ultimately only a few that are worth engaging on any given day. Someone made a post about ‘How do we make the fediverse as big as reddit’ and I said please let’s not, it’s an excellent alternative to the constant content drip that other sites are, I for one, embrace our lack of mental diarrhea here.
Hexbear really had been good for my sanity. Because reddit is super astroturfed on top of being curated to a right wing slant and being right wing as well. Unless you’re an Uber lib you can’t comment on that shit site without getting banned immediately. You can also be an out and out Nazi and you’ll be fine. So I guess there are options lmao. I never used twitter but apparently it’s even worse.

I went ahead and checked that out. Yeah I guess Sharps is a group that is reclaiming skinhead culture for the punk scene and removing the fascist, racist stuff. Skinheads go back too Jamaican culture originally?
Also r/skinhead seems to have been created or siezed by Sharps at some point, and half the top posts are pro-Palestine and the other half are pictures of cats or fashion. I guess false alarm, I judged too quickly
I know what you mean. What I do is just bookmark the 3 subreddits I care about and ignore the rest of the site. They’re clearly exposing people to the right wing trash as a way of making people more right wing. It’s just a propaganda site at this point.

It looks like a lot of it is SkinHeads Against Racial Prejudice posting pictures of their cats, haircuts, and boots. They keep referring to racist skinheads as boneheads. The world is changing I wasn’t ready for this development.
