So a comrade on here from Palestine, who’s situation is dire, no shit, asked me to help him do some fundraising. He suggested this sub to post on and I did, I linked his gofundme. 6 hours later I was permanently banned.
ffs it’s a meme sub about muslim, MUSLIM, cats and your banning me for sharing a muslims story? Death to reddit, death to techbro racists.
thank you Jessica Ashooh

I know you mean well, but this is a post on hexbear, from a Hexbear power user. xD
Thanks, they already posted in there
Subreddits should just have a list of pre-approved comments because that’s all you’re allowed to do. Every subreddit has to be so acutely nuanced that you can’t possibly stray off a razor thin subject. I honestly think the goal of subreddits are to kill all discussion entirely. I mean based on the way they keep tightening the noose, how could it be anything else?
It sucks because I really wanted to help them. Nothing like feeling utterly powerless to stop an ongoing genocide!
Like permanently banned from the subreddit? Or permanently banned from Reddit at large?
From the sub
Did you message the mods? I think a lot of mods are wary because there’s a whole lot of evil assholes making fake gofundme’s. Not to say the mods aren’t just shitty but if you’re trying to get the message to people on that sub might be worth a try.
I just messaged them asking why.
This happens for any sort of helping people when libs are in charge. I and my housing group have been banned from trans spaces for helping find homeless trans people housing. Some places online just want you to be toxically positive all the time and ignore the suffering going on outside
So yeah it’s an unfortunately common reaction.
In it’s own twisted logic it becomes more toxic to ignore the suffering!
I empathise with the frustration, and it’s enraging that these people can’t get the help they need.
Sadly, we do live in a world where, even just talking about Muslims in Palestine, millions of people are in serious shit. I would guess subs like these get tons of posts of this kind. Much as I understand the desire to scream at the world through every channel to fucking do something material, I also don’t think you can expect every community to turn into a fundraising one just because the cause is overwhelmingly important.
