    I have my psychiatrists direct office extension, yeah. Same for my sister with her paediatrician. The rhyme wasn’t from a time when we had mobile devices.

    It was a thing! My grandpa was the town physician in a small town in Florida and he made mostly house calls ($5). He also adopted my aunt from a patient of his who couldn’t keep her. My grandma said he just showed up with the baby (they didn’t have other kids yet).

    There was a time when there was no barrier between you and a physician, often allowing you to speak to them directly when needed, as an example, to request a house call.
