I disagree, in large part simply because people don’t fucking like being told what to think and what to say and whose boot to lick.
Israel’s reputation is absolutely cooked with nearly everyone under age 45. even MAGA is sick of their arrogance, their entitlement, and the fact that every Israeli citizen has full-ride healthcare and social safety net, while they extract hundreds of billions of American taxpayer dollars to murder literal starving babies, and buy + cuck every single one of our worthless politicians as a thank-you.
the 99% in America is getting squeezed within an inch of its life, and watching their wealth be funneled to a genocidal society, and are starting to realize this is not and has never been a good deal, this is not and has never been for the benefit of Americans.
this is absolutely an age thing and increasingly cuts across party lines. after all, “America First” doesn’t really go well with “suck Benjamin Netanyahu’s dick on the world stage and then ask if you can make him a steak dinner afterwards,” which is exactly how Donald Trump looks right now.
i’m not convinced that most are aware that this parasitic relationship exists given the effective & intense amounts of propaganda that the american and isreali governments put out. (ie almost everyone on social media is aware, but not much outside of it). if you need proof of this: look at how americans still regard china as an authoritarian shit hole; or uncritically accept wild AF stories about north korea; or still believe that iran is still surreptitiously pursuing nuclear weaponry; or even that the ukranians were manipulated into starting hostilities with russia.
most younger people became aware of this relationship because of the surprise dominance of non-american social media (eg tiktok). both the american and isreali governments have taken steps to plug this hasbara gap and we’re already seeing the fruits of this labor on tikok and reddit. social media has become just as captured as legacy media because of these efforts and even the brightest hotspots of independence like the fediverse (especially lemmy) are dominated by it as evidenced by .world’s and .ee’s dramatically larger user bases or even bluesky’s shadow banning of pro-palestinian users.
the next few generations won’t have the benefit of an independent and heavily funded news sources like tiktok, so there’s be nothing to visually show them that the isrealis have it SO MUCH BETTER than americans do and americans are going to keep turning to demagogues like trump to “drain the swamp” out of their collective ignorance and propaganda that re-enforces our two party system.
“The next few generations” aren’t likely to exist if the empire is not stopped.
