I mean China already does this for almost all their trains and metros, and it’s really very quick, but knowing the United States it’ll be an absolutely clusterfuck.

I was there last year, and it looked like they already had a huge emphasis on security. Thick metal fences and revolving gates, and lots and lots more security guards standing around.
They really are going to double their transit budget for security sooner than just making it free, aren’t they?
Meanwhile, in Memphis a $1 bus ticket can literally take you all the way across the county, and security is maybe one random dude in a uniform that you see walking through.
Damn. I was fucking strapped last time I took a train cross-country. Nobody asked and nobody cared.
