I’m looking at the box score, and he went 2 for 3 plus a walk, an RBI, scored, and was part of a double play. All in all a pretty good day.
Was there something he did spectacularly well that wasn’t captured in the box score?
The double play was an infield fly rule play where he let it drop and then picked off the lead runner.
Then he got into a pickle between first and second which lead to the winning run and no outs.
Both of those plays were fun watching. Not something you see every day.
Impressive indeed to find yourself in a pickle and not get tagged out!
And yeah it’s weird that the starting pitcher for the losing team got a top performer slot when he didn’t even finish 5 innings.
Exactly. The box score doesn’t really capture how much of an impact he had on that game.
I understand striking out 8 in 4.2 innings is a big deal, but can a starter really be a “top performer” if he can’t pitch 5 innings (and his team ends up losing the game?)
