How’s the family?
When getting ready for bedtime runs a little long and I don’t want to turn on the light, I just add a thread to my episodal storytelling of my sons getting sucked into their favorite game (fortnite and minecraft respectively). It never misses.
I read books to my youngest this week and he goes “dad you are the best reader”.

I get busy weekends. On Sunday here one of the wheels on our trailer pram completely shit itself. The axle broke and is stuck inside the pram by the release pin, now the wheel is bent out of place and I can’t get it out.
Then on getting home after that expedition the garage door broke. So our car with the baby seats in it was stuck inside and our other means of getting the kids around was also broken.
I’ve had a few problems with the trailer pram recently, so I’m almost thinking of selling it and the ebike, and getting something like a Tern so I can do the work commute and cart the kids around with a single unit. The trailer pram makes navigating some things a bit cumbersome, so something the size of a normal bike would be great.
Baby Beaver is getting way more mobile, we might have to actually put the gate up soon to keep her contained.
Fun! It’s always exciting when they get to explore more.
The little gate/ playpen thing we had actually helped my kid get around, he would pull up on it and move all around the living room. He loved it.
Welcome!

@waitaminute@midwest.socialHi friends. I drove an hour away to the childrens museum with my kid today. They had a band there playing drums and my kid got super over stimulated and wanted to go home. They recently made a sensory room there and I took him into that instead and it was like magic. He calmed down in about 10 minutes. I am sold. They should have these everywhere!!!
Anyways, still solo parenting and just happy I got us out to do something really fun and it went well :)
That’s always a hard thing to have happen. We drove to a farmers market a few weekends ago and the kids were over it in like 20 min. Hot, crowded, and the oldest had zero interest in the food truck offerings. So we got some cool drinks and drove home. Sometimes you swing and miss! Glad it worked out though! Kids museums are great.
It’s funny because I actually have memories of my parents bringing me to farms and places like that and feeling like I was going along with them to do chores and now I know they were doing it for me. They just also bought vegetables and stuff while we were there.
Sorry for the late thread y’all! Busy busy weekend!
My 14 year old recently did very well in their sport in a big tournament with lots of contestants. They never expected going that far.
I never understood the joy of sport myself but I am extremely proud of what they’re achieving and of how dedicated they are.
I’m starting Derek Ford’s (from the Reading Capital with Comrades podcast) Encountering Education: Elements for a Marxist Pedagogy. This book is not geared towards kids, but I’m reading it hoping to pick up any applicable kernels of wisdom that will help me foster a Marxist outlook in my kids.
Oh interesting. I should give this a read.
They have the PDF for free on Iskra Books website.
Took the family to get boba tea yesterday. At the front desk they have a basket full of keychains that were huge turgid black cocks. Kid picks one up, puzzled, “What are these? Are they whales?”. I immediately burst out in uncontrollable laughter. The girl behind the counter is laughing her ass off too.
“Yes kid, they’re whales, carry on.”
“I don’t understand, why are you laughing?”
Definitely won’t forget that one any time soon.

wat.
The keychains. They were penises. And turgid. Like a basket full of these.
