Been playing around with a mugen build of Street Fighter 2 (https://gamebanana.com/mods/382248) that has all the characters from the turbo and champion edition.
I can see why people like the hitbox controller, it’s how I laid my keyboard out.
Idk if it applies to what your playing (my knowledge really only goes back to sf4) but an easy way to get dp consistently on keyboard/leverless is to hold forward, tap down, then punch, or hold down, double tap forward, punch.
This works in sf4/5/6 due to a shortcut for the dp motion that exists in those games. Down forward, down forward, punch.
Just tried it out and it looks like it doesn’t work on 2, but I’ll keep that in mind for 4.
There’s an additional layer of jank on keyboard that also might come up, depending on your keyboard: key roll over
My kb is 10 key rollover I believe
Leverless are the wave yeah
The inputs using a keyboard feel much more crisper than a d-pad. I grew up on controllers but I’ve been a kb+mouse head since at least 2011 when I built my first desktop pc, so clacking away on the keyboard comes easier.
First time a guy brought his keyboard to the skullgirls tournament everyone was so enamored. He won the whole thing, too, so i think a few of us went home to try it out. i’m still an arcade stick guy myself though
I’m not a great player, but keyboard works really well for characters who don’t have a 360 or something of that nature, especially since like half the cast have raging demon inputs.
I thought about buying a stick but I’m just a casual fighting game player and I couldn’t see myself using it. Whereas my mech keyboard can be used for utility and gaming, so it’s a win-win. Sticks are cool though, granted I didn’t have much exposure to them growing up.
