A tragic end that makes for another amazing story and history for your world.
In the next fortress if you meet another werecritter you better pause and take careful note of the combat log and any dwarf it attacked assign to a new squad and move them to a room and seal up the entrance until the next full moon.

Yeah I’d always heard that was the strat but never had any issue dispatching them normally. Guess I was just lucky until now!

    That does look tragic!

Gave me an idea though. My forts succumb to enemy often the same way. It’s usually not dwarfs… Couldn’t I use pressure plates, laying around narrow tunnels and connected to iron bars, at those tunnels, to “quarantine” the whole fort? The plates would be set to “heavier than dwarf” and it would usually trigger the fort wide quarantine 🤔

At least werecrocodiles look reasonably respectable to lose to. I lost a fort to werekoalas once. Missed one dude that got bitten in the initial attack before my military eviscerated the interloper. Next full moon everyone was chilling in the tavern and he managed to bite about fourteen more before being killed. Subsequent full moon ended the fort.

Still, had a laugh about it. More fun than enthralling fog, or rains of elven blood that stop anyone caught in it from ever being happy again.

Ah, werecreatures are the worst. I lost count, how many fortresses fell to these bastards. Sometimes you get a wave, kill it off and miss one injury on a single dwarf and a second wave hits and kills off the rest.
