    Writer: writes joke

Yuri: I believe there are some jokes in my comedy. How curious, what unusual coincidence.

A substantial number of FB and gram posts about media are just people amazed that a writer thought of a connection within a story and then deliberately wrote it down

Star Trek: Lower Decks. Easily the best Trek in 25 years.

I like to think of TNG/DS9/LD as a trilogy of series. TNG, first act, showing humanity’s better nature and being a force for good (mostly). DS9, second act, a fall from grace and a return to our darker impulses in the face of a threat - but never fully abandoning that hard-won better nature. LD, third and final act, humanity faces its postwar trauma and rediscovers compasionate ideals and ethics.

I don’t consider STD or STP or the TNG movies as taking place in the same universe as TOS/TNG/DS9/LD. And I suspect the LD writers share my feelings.

LD feels to me like a better showcase of Federation ethics than even TNG. It does seem unbelievable to have LD and PIC supposedly happening contemporaneously, they’re so diametrically opposed in understanding of what Trek means.

Voyager is the origin story of an Evil Starfleet Admiral™.

Enterprise is mysteriously 100% filler for the first three seasons, which shouldn’t be possible yet here it is.
