This is animeplot, the subreddit community for all fanservice from anime which isn’t hentai. I decided to create this community as I wanted to lower my participation on reddit, although I will continue posting there as well under my account https://www.reddit.com/user/satans_alt_account_/.
Rules for now are:
- Only fanservice from non-hentai anime is allowed
- Sauce is mandatory in title. Please add in the format of [source anime]
- AI generated posts and fan art is not allowed, however official art is
I’ll copy over my posts from reddit slowly and start posting here as well.
Any further suggestions are welcome in comments.
My two suggestion would be:
- Perhaps suggest some preferred hosts for images and videos in the sidebar. That way people can more easily start posting content here, without having that frustrating trial-and-error period to see what can be embedded and what does not.
- Adding a community icon and banner could also attract more people. Although it is suggested to keep both SFW.
- Hmm, I suppose the default currently popular image hosts like imgur, redgifs, lemmy itself can be considered as approved. I’m not sure I understood your point about embedded content? Still learning here 😅
- I added an icon which is semi NSFW I guess? Not sure what kind of banner I use though to convey the point of the subreddit and still be SFW. Is that concern because how this instance will show up on other instance’s feeds?
That’s totally fine. I expressed myself poorly there. Hopefully some examples will make this clear 😅
- This post linking to redgifs is embedded in the post, but not accessible without actually opening the post
- This post linking to a video on rule34.xxx can be played from the thumbnail of the post, although it is tiny an you have to go full screen to actually view it. At least on the website, I don’t actually now about the various apps that can access lemmy
- According to this comment Content from pixiv does not embed at all
My point was then simply to provide a list of hosts that act like option 2 or 1 so that the posts within this sub are consistent and people that want to post content don’t have to go hunt for links that act like those options 🙂 The ones you suggested should probably work 👍 To be honest, maybe my suggestion was overly eager and trying to solve a problem that is not there yet.
About the second point: As far as I understand the concern was that other instances could defederate / block this instance, reducing the potential user base. Although it appears that the official word as of yesterday is that NSFW community icons and banners are okay now 😅
Thanks for considering my suggestions!
Oh interesting. But honestly unless there’s a list somewhere of websites that embed/don’t embed I’m not sure if I’ll be able to enforce them correctly. Maybe I’ll look into it if the sub gets bigger and people do start posting weird websites…
