Funny thing about that scene from Airplane! is that in the German dub he says “Bitte nennen Sie mich nicht Ernst” - “Please don’t call me Serious”.
Ernst is a common name in Germany and also means serious.
This was the type of quality we used to get from the motion picture industry.
Always nice when you can make a translated pun work without too much trouble.
