I don’t have any faith that they’ll follow through, but it does strike me as odd that this is being used as a threat against Israel. Like, “Israel, if you don’t stop indiscriminately massacring children then we’ll be forced to symbolically recognize the independence of the people you’re ethnically cleansing.”

The fact that Israel has no desire to see an independent Palestinian state doesn’t mean a toothless and symbolic threat like this will stop their monstrous actions…

My mother died recently, and she was the breadwinner and was in charge of everything financial, because my surviving father is a toxic narcissist with zero financial literacy who refuses help from anyone. So I just have to say kudos to you for thinking about this difficult stuff. Your family will appreciate it more than you can imagine.

Other commenters have already given you solid advice, and I don’t have anything to add there, but more people need to have these difficult conversations and make real practical preparations, as soon as possible. Speaking from experience, not having clear guidance about where things are and what should be done with them, makes an already emotional situation even harder to deal with. Everybody dies, but in death you can make your family’s grieving process slightly easier by thinking ahead like this.

It’s actually a pretty appalling example of human ingenuity. We’ve managed to invent something that has a disproportionately terrible impact on every person on earth through its environmental effects, while simultaneously producing no practical value to anyone other than those wealthy enough to be in control of it.

The Citadel of Qaitbay, which is now an excellent maritime museum, was interestingly built on the exact spot of the ancient lighthouse, and even used some of the lighthouse’s original blocks in its construction.

Yeah paywalls suck, but that’s probably why their journalism remains consistently high quality. I listen to their podcast every so often, and it’s clear that they work their asses off. They just took their first week off since founding the company, because they were worried if they stopped constantly releasing new articles they would quickly go under, so they waited a long time until they were sure they had enough subscribers and had built enough trust to survive a week’s vacation without pissing everybody off.

I certainly don’t have that kind of work ethic, and I still expect my paycheck.

I’ve mentioned it before, but the single player campaign is worth this price. I frankly couldn’t stand the multiplayer, but the single player story is simple and fun, and has a surprising amount of content. Gorgeous graphics.

I couldn’t care less about what this has to do with “AI,” but e-ink is horrendously underutilized. It should be so much more ubiquitous.

No Mans Sky is totally a time guzzler. It’s incredible how easy it is for hours and hours to go by like it’s nothing. It’s a really fun game though, and I’ve sunk hundreds of hours into it.

I did one playthrough shortly after it came out doing things the way you’re supposed to, and then I decided to just have fun with it and started using a save editor to give myself all the resources that take ages to farm or craft. That was a game changer. It’s so much more fun when I can just explore and build without having to worry about not having enough fuel for my jetpack, or not being able to finish a building because I don’t have enough resources for that one last piece of glass, or having to salvage a fuckton of ships just to open up inventory slots.

So if the game ever starts to feel like work for you, I suggest using a save editor and going to town. The devs don’t seem to have much of a problem with it, and it really opens up the game.

Yeah this is why I’ve stopped using Craig’s List. Most of the listings, last time I was looking, were scams. I lost a few ”application fees” and was always ghosted. I’ll never again respond to an ad that has any fees whatsoever until I can see with my own eyes that the property is real. Hunting for a place to live sucks so much.

I have two of the same pair of glasses, one with normal clear prescription lenses, and the other with prescription lenses that are tinted brown and polarized. I often forget to switch them out because the sunglasses make everything look so damn good, but I carry them both with me and usually switch to my clear glasses if I’m indoors for more than a minute. But if I pop into a gas station or something for 30 seconds then I’m definitely not taking them off.
