  • Misgendering, deadnaming, and broadly “it’s just bullying get over it” type speech leads to suicides particularly by younger people. The problem has multiple fronts: people need support to get them through the toughest times, thick skin to keep the day to day manageable, and social spaces need some degree of checks to keep from going full toxic

Personally I don’t mind being deadname or misgendered I think it’s funny. I’m a survivor bias though I’ve made it to my thirties being unphased. Other people who used to be around me who couldn’t handle the aggressions did not make it to their thirties. One of my oldest friends attempted suicide four times that I know of over this type of speech being directed at them. They’re only alive right now because they were lucky enough to keep being pulled back from death until they could grow that thicker skin you’re talking about

  • It stays in their bodies then goes back to the environment when they die. From my understanding they’re less useful for removing heavy metals and like op states they’re more useful as bio indicators. Basically collect a bunch and test how much heavy metal they have to determine general contamination in the area. They would probably be really difficult to remove at quantities that actually decontaminate soil or water

The real pros for heavy metal removal are oysters. Easy to farm, they collect heavy metals, carbon, and other stuff in their shells, the shells can be disposed of at scale, and they’re arguably vegan

  • You can use archinstall and it is dummy simple. Just have another computer or phone around to look things up and go down the menu like a checklist. My admittedly limited arch experience has so far been “run archinstall, use pacman to install tools as I run into things I’d like to have”. I have a Framework 16 with the built in GPU, I imagine some hardware complicates this process but just look stuff up it’s all out there unless you’re on some really wild hardware. Even without archinstall you can follow the arch wiki and you’re basically replicating what the tool does but using the wiki as your checklist and needing to type more
