DOOM shareware was 2.39 MB, so technically your gender only includes Knee Deep In The Dead if you upload that one. The full game with all three episodes came on four 1.44 MB floppies, so 6-ish MB

Yeah – I might have figured that out after I posted the comment – sorry.

Sometimes I see something, react to it, then my brain catches up with what I just read, and I think “now I feel stupid” :)

Were they compressed? I assume compression algorithms have gotten better so you can compress it down from 6 MB. I know you are compressing your gender but it’s lossless compression so it should be fine.

Hmm. I definitely remember the original SimCity fitting on two 3.5" floppies (2.88 MB max), but my SimCity 2000 Special Edition came on CD-ROM so I’m not sure it would fit in 10 MB.

This is not at anyone’s expense. This is not punching at all. You need help. (Not that it matters to most people because everyone’s entitled to an opinion, but I’m non-binary and I enjoy my custom genders).

I’m already receiving help too but I didn’t actually say anything unhinged to warrant that advice. Keep it up though, best wishes (genuinely).

I see you contribute a lot of content, u/Stamets, and none of it has been transphobic, so allow me to inform you; “onejoke” = transphobia.

Also very transphobic to tell a trans person they need help, and aren’t getting enough help when they inform you that they are already receiving help when they try and call out transphobia in a public forum.

This is not about custom genders or uploads. This is about your title and the “onejoke”.

I feel like 10mb might be a bit much describe someone’s gender to be honest if you really need more than three times the length of war and peace (with compression realistically five or something) to describe your gender identity I think no one will take it seriously. I think the real joke is the existence of the harddrive space for all the users to store their genders.

Probably thinking of the “I identify as an attack helicopter” thing that the transphobes ran with for a bit, so now apparently every “pronouns” joke is supposed to be “offensive…” Every community will have some people can’t take a joke…

You are correct. That’s what I thought too but I wanted to hear it in their words. They’re over sensitive. They saw the title and immediately assumed that it was going to be hateful. The content of the post is irrelevant to them. They just want to get angry and bitter over something. Well, they can keep doing so but I’m not giving them anymore of my attention. They’ve stolen enough of my time.

A joke that stems from the idea that every gender is absurd if it is not male or female is discriminatory to me.

Especially considering that this trend of “memes” mocking website forms started with people mocking websites that were “overdoing” it by giving a lot of nonbinary choices, and all the comments being like “haha lol helicopter”.

Now the meme evolved to instead imagining forms that don’t exist but the underlying idea is still the same, to make fun of the “absurdity” of other genders. You’ll notice that this form of meme basically never changes the choices of male and female, only nonbinary choices, because the joke is not about website forms, but about nonbinary genders through the prism of forms.

Your explanation is untenable and isn’t seated in reality.

You’re complaining about the joke itself without looking at the context at all. By your own logic, every gay joke ever told by a gay man would also be inherently discriminatory despite the fact that there is clearly irony involved in the telling of the joke. You, on the other hand, are openly assuming that everyone involved in that train is cisgendered and then automatically attributing malice to it for no adequate reason. This joke is perfectly fine given the context of it all. Something you failed to even ask about. You just went straight into attack mode and assumed everyone involved with this was being hateful and discriminatory. What a sad way to live.

I’m not continuing this conversation. You started this from a place of bad faith and continue to push it in that direction. I’ll be getting off at this stop, thanks very much. I’ve got no room in my life for people who start slinging shit without even asking a question first or using a single ounce of rational thought.

So you’re telling me that “my gender is apache helicopter” and “my gender is doom” are two very different jokes.

As I said, this “bad website design” is always targeted at the nonbinary choices, why?

You are just the kind of person who refuses to admit that a joke is discriminatory because “it’s not the subject” and “it’s funny”. Delude yourself all you want, that kind of shit passively encourages people to remain convinced that discrimination is fun.

I think 10mb is just a bit much is it not? The difference is writing helicopter or whatever and being able to upload a large file for something, that as far I know could be described in at most a short essay seems a little extreme. I still believe that the joke is about the file size and if you can I’m sure someone will try to run Doom on their gender tag or at least try to play bad apple, that’s just the internet for you.

Ah yes, because as a queer furry enby who found it quite funny (and not offensive in the slightest) I’m very much homo/transp/furry -phobic… Totally makes sense. This isn’t some “attack helicopter” insult directed at us it’s a legit good joke… Lighten up a bit mate.

Ah yes, it is impossible to have any form of discrimination towards a group that concerns you.

If a black person says “black people should die” it’s not racist then? That’s a ridiculous argument.
