I would have no idea who hasan piker is if the Republicans weren’t losing their mind over him. I mean, I still don’t, really. But now I’ve heard the name and have a vague understanding of what he does. They’re giving him so much more exposure (get it?) than he would have had otherwise. They’ve created their own demon like they always do.
Like trans women in women’s sports. But they’re trying to kill women’s sports too, so like… What? But anything that makes their base riled up is a win for them. It distracts the mush-brained base from seeing their income getting taken by billionaires or chemical companies making their tap water undrinkable while republican lawmakers line their pockets from those same chemical companies. If only the media could quit the culture war bullshit and focus on things that matter… Ahh that’d be nice, wouldn’t it?
Consevative media does a really good job at insulating their base by character assassination on anyone who might change minds. I would argue it’s one of the most effective tactics that conservative media uses. They don’t have to argue the points if they consistently and uniformly just act like the target is an idiot.
From the outside it looks ridiculous, but from within it’s all part of the information ecosystem that feeds the base their smug dopamine and keeps them coming back. Doing otherwise would require admitting fault or ignorance, which is literally physically painful to anyone raised without it. Thats what cognitive dissonance actually is.

Way too many people in the comments (not on this post) acting like he’s just some random streamer. Which…yeah, I guess he is. But he’s insanely influencial to a demographic who desperately need guidance. He’s on our side basically recruiting people to the cause.
He’s operating in a space dominated by chuds. He’s showing young people there’s another way to view the world than the “us vs them” pushed by the right.

pike rocketed into mainstream fame out of nowhere like graham platner did and the american gov’t has a well documented history of elevating candidates who have progressive aesthetics with little-to-no progressive beliefts to prevent americans from elective progressive candidates.
i’m positing that piker and platner were both elevated because people feel that they’re progressive, but they only have centrist platforms.
I’m not versed enough in Piker lore to say either way but this definitely feels like a stretch. His dad is also a leftwing political commentator with similar beliefs.

Hasan was pretty good for a year but since his DSA stint it’s really gone downhill. Especially the Platner saga. Way too much compromising with the DNC. He’s close to power now and starting to water down all the rhetoric.
I especially like his pragmatism. Lot of that is just obvious stuff that makes sense.

Republicans should embrace the grift and crime. Just say “No more elections, we are a dictatorship now”. To keep their donors happy, they just have to raise taxes on lower income and allow price hiking. For the people, just allow more gambling I guess.
