I have a newish TCL that runs android’s TV OS and I’ve never connected it to a network and it never has bothered me again about connecting. I am sure it’s recording our convos but it isn’t uploading them at least.
I did scramble a few settings like a BS static IP, a BS DNS, gateway, etc.
I never bought the whole bullshit line of “The device could technically be recording you, but it isn’t. Trust us.” Good on GamersNexus for doing the legwork to prove it isn’t true.
Smart TV’s are terrifying. I’m still rocking an old 2008 flat screen that can’t handle 1080p…
I have a “smart” TV. It wouldn’t let me get past setup until I put it on wifi, so I spun up a hotspot, then immediately killed it and just plugged in a micro PC running Linux to the HDMI port.
Occasionally, I’ll sit on the remote and a pop up happens saying I’ll need to connect to the Internet for <feature> to work, but that’s about it.
2011 TV here, it thankfully is 1080p capable, and I’m clinging onto it for dear life. If anything in it fails, I’ll definitely be attempting a repair.

That link isn’t complete.
In my case it is complete, it simply was turned into a ref. In Markdown, you can create a link that will display a blue text but refer you to an actual link:
I see… There was a video based on this study as well, not sure if you mean that: youtube.com/watch?v=IvFu343KNe…
Are you posting from Lemmy? That link also is incomplete.
By incomplete, I mean the link is missing some text and it’s being replaced by “…”.

The links are complete. Long press on them to see the full link.
I use Friendica, in that case let me edit my post to make the links explicit
From Piefed, it looks like the link is visually shortened, but you should be able to tap or click it to open the full link. You can also right-click and copy the link, if you want to inspect it. That’s unfortunately a quirk on Piefed’s side.
Weird, it must be a combination of the Summit app and piefed - if I open it in a browser, the link is there. Apologies for taking up your time!

Here is the Gemini summary:
Here’s my summary:
Keep your spam to yourself, develop an attention span beyond that of a six-year-old, go be worthless somewhere else, and while you’re there, go fuck yourself.
Using gemini summary as a source? Really?
I think we’ve all used AI enough to see how much it hallucinates with its main purpose being generating content, and not accuracy to not fully trust it to use it as a source.
Is this bait? It’s gotta be bait, right?
This is almost as exciting as them just coming right out and saying “New Merch Drop”, which is to say very.
