Mario Draghi and Patrick Collison are bringing together economists, entrepreneurs, academics and key figures in European politics. A new multidisciplinary group aims to translate economic analysis into concrete reforms to strengthen Europe’s global position in technological and strategic sectors.
I bet they’ll recc slashing regulation, taxes and safety nets.
Its launch has nevertheless attracted early criticism, particularly over the limited representation of Central and Eastern Europe. French and German members form the largest national groups, while former Estonian President Toomas Hendrik Ilves is the only representative from countries that joined the European Union in 2004 or later.
Nowhere do they answer why they call themselves the Rhine Group.
Maybe it’s the blue banana without England. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Banana
I would love to see a competing group from everywhere else. Innovation won’t come from places that can’t question their businesses because their profits keep the EU running.

What do you mean by that?

We fell behind because China and the US have out-innovated us. I don’t think it helps much to push the productive Rhine region more like the car industry hasn’t pushed for electric cars on their own. In theory it would be a good idea but in reality they have shown that they are stuck.
I think we will have more success if we figure out how we can activate other regions to be as industrialized as the blue banana, but for other industries.
Nah man. The USA buys our patents and China flat out buys our businesses. We‘re as innovative as you can be but we suck at doing business.
