OTTAWA – After Donald Trump signed an executive order renaming Lake Ontario “Lake America,” Prime Minister Mark Carney announced he would preemptively rename the rest of the Great Lakes as “Lake Legal Adult” in order for the president to immediately lose interest in touching them.
Being completely real here, the Epstein jokes are so overdone and unfunny to me that it’s starting to feel like it’s taking away from the seriousness of the crime committed.
They are stupid. However the whole point is to not let the issue fade into a black hole. If everywhere you turn an ‘epstein’ post or comment shows up, it will not get buried by the gaslighting that trump does daily. In a normal world (which the USA is not in right now) this pedophile freak would be on trial and jailed already. This could go on for another 2-3 years, less if we are lucky.
Then just call him a pedophile and don’t minimise the effects of the crime by making it lighthearted enough for Joe Schmoe to joke about at a dinner table thinking they’re funny.
Like tell me how repeatedly saying “grab 'er by the pussy” worked out as a joke. It did jack. People seem to be thinking this is some big protest movement when all it is is keyboard warrior stuff that doesn’t get anything done, and I honestly I hate saying that because I ideologically agree with anybody who says that.
At a point it just feels like there’s a reversal of the initial intent where it unintentionally starts normalising jokes about sexual assault.
