Donald Trump is leading a deeply corrupt, fascist administration that seeks to punish and imprison his enemies – big and small, real and perceived. The unpopular president and his team are laying the groundwork to try to steal the 2026 midterms, and they’re not even trying to hide it.

Democrats in Washington, meanwhile, are hyper-focused on… condemning a left-wing podcaster, Hasan Piker, and distorting his comments criticizing Zionists as a way to marginalize and block the rise of anti-Israel voices on the left.

With less than 10 weeks to go before the election, the opposition party is using this crucial time to demonstrate their continued fealty to Israel – despite its deep and growing political unpopularity in the U.S., its horrifying genocide in Gaza, and the ruinous Iran war that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu dragged America’s idiot president into.

It makes me livid that the danger Hasan is pointing to is real and yet centrist Dems can’t even handle the subject being brought up without having performative meltdowns.

It’s insane that multiple sitting senators are going after Hasan using a made up, right-wing smear. El Sayed’s opponent is a Trump loyalist and a monster. It shows where the priorities are. Hasan isn’t even the one running for fucking office. Meanwhile, the future speaker of the house is meeting with Trump’s fucking son-in-law to find “common ground.” They also gave a Zionist a spot on the foreign affairs committee, signaling that the party is still pro-genocide.

The midterm elections are months away and democratic leadership is demonstrating, once again, that they’d rather cooperate with fascists than fight them. I don’t know how many signs there have to be for people to realize that the people who accept millions from the same far-right donors are, in fact, working against us. It’s so clear that Schumer and Jeffries are throwing this thing and HAVE been throwing it for years now. They do not give a fuck if they fail in November. But yeah, the twitch streamer who is canvassing for candidates and galvanizing the youth vote is the problem lmao.

The icing on the cake is that what Hasan said is true, no matter how uncomfortable of a fact it is. The conflation of Judaism with the ongoing atrocities committed in the name of Zionism is dangerous for all Jews. And all the people condemning Hasan over that statement are perpetuating that danger. Jews are not a monolith and Israel does not speak on their behalf.

The movement Hasan has come to represent is a threat to establishment dems’ donors. Donald Trump and Mike Rogers aren’t. They’re pretty silly to think that “knocking down” Hasan will change much of anything, though.

That being said, I think calling El-Sayed’s statement a “condemnation” is an exaggeration. It seems to me more like he condemned a caricature of what Hasan said.

I mean, Hasan is right, trying to flatten Israel and Judaism into one concept does place Jews in the US at far greater danger as it forces them into a story they weren’t necessarily a part of and if anything US Jews are very likely experiencing their soul recoil in horror from what is happening in the Palestinian Genocide same as anyone else with a heart.

The amount of immaturity the media has with grappling with Hasan’s point is stunning.

“If Jews in America keep putting this idea out there that they are singularly invested in Israel, eventually someone is going to come around and take action, not against the state of Israel mind you, but against American Jews,”

I don’t think Hasan is an anti-semite, but saying “jews in America” instead of Zionists does seem like the kind of slip-up Zionists love to seize on.

And I’ll reiterate that if they think taking down Hasan will change anything for them, they’re out of touch with reality. I think El-Sayed responded the way he did so he doesn’t have to constantly defend what Hasan said and can talk about other things. I doubt it will work, because the media is a bad faith actor, but we’ll see.

If America is a bus, Democrats are a driver trying to “safely” deliver us to Death Valley. Republicans are a bunch of crazy passengers trying get us there by driving the bus off a cliff. And despite the fact the Republicans haven’t been restrained, the Democrats keep driving the bus on a cliffside road and wont let anyone off or listen to anyone trying to change the destination of the bus.

Yes, I know this is a tortured metaphor.

What happens when the Palestinian Genocide becomes undeniable in the deluge of international media about how much more unimaginably worse it was than we even thought and politicians in the US desperately start running around looking for excuses for why they weren’t complicit and to rationalize why they didn’t do anything to stop it?

What happens when antisemitism is sitting there, the comfortable old reliable spectacle of attractively hateful simplicity to distract from a much more uncomfortable conversation and self-reflection?

I am not jewish and those questions scare me, they should scare everyone, this leads nowhere good and the current alliance between Israel and the rightwing of the US (and elsewhere) is not just a fickle relationship by nature of how unreliable rightwing groups are at refraining from turning on their allies for insane reasons… it is clearly much worse, it is the set up to a betrayal narrative.

Meanwhile centrist Democrats sit there having a tantrum about Hasan Piker being a popular streamer and DNC leadership openly condescends people who see the Palestinian Genocide as an existential issue.

Every single bit of energy centrists and rightwing people have put into policing leftists on their criticisms of Israel and trying to censor it from popular media discourse is effort done to increase the antisemitic blowback rightwing ideologies will inevitably adopt in order to not acknowledge how baby like and reductive their world views are… whether people realize that or not, that is the obvious reality.

Call me Cassandra, I don’t give a fuck, I want to be wrong here, I just don’t see how the chips fall any other way given the current trajectory, and it is one of the primary reasons I am so passionate about this issue. If we don’t loudly criticize Israel and ourselves (the US) with actual nuanced, rational criticisms than it leaves a cavernous void for people like Tucker Carlson to start something terrifying that will not only silence more nuanced conversation but worse… likely grow out of control…

I am not really making any great leap of logic here, when discourse about a phenomena is silenced with reductive shouting down as if any criticism is an endorsement of hateful ideologies… it creates the ideal space for dangerous conspiracy theories to spread like wildfire.

Hasan spent years being a figure of toxic masculinity and treating his audience like shit. He got rich off talking about other people’s accomplishments, refuses to willingly relinquish his wealth, and is currently riding better people’s coattails into political stardom.

At this point his fandom is a cult and you’re a sucker if you support him. Cut him out and let people doing the actual work like Mamdani and Al-Sayed go on without that leech.

I’d really recommend you look further into the charities and donations that Piker has supported in addition to his help in the campaigns of Mamdani and El-Sayed. He really pushed for door knocking and helped get them elected.

There’s a lot of factions that are working hard to push propaganda about Piker that should be looked at with a critical eye.

Like it or not, (and a lot of people don’t like it), Piker has a huge influence over young people on the left. He’s been able to mobilize his fans to help elect Dem Socialists across the board. That’s a positive thing in my view.

The only way Piker is trying to influence the DNC is by holding them accountable to what they’re supposed to stand for and pull them back from how far the Overton window has shifted. That’s why he campaigns with Democratic Socialists.

Yeah, piker has had his shit talking justified or not really come back to bite him. In a way previous generations struggle to understand. For them thousands of shitty, poorly thought out statements diffused into the air they were spoken. Never to be seen or heard again. If someone was upset with what you said, you must have been very adamant in saying it.

Now with social media, and everything you say or do being recorded. It can be held against you for posterity indefinitely. Every meaningless little brain fart or slip that would have amounted to nothing in the past. Can now be used to hang you. It’s going to take adjustment for both the older and the younger Generations.

The crazy thing is people could look at both issues validly but seem incapable.

Piker has a huge influence over young people on the left

This seems bad, not because of Piker but because we as a society keep buying into this myth of stoic individual leaders who see the truth and giving individuals outsized influence. Of course that isn’t what anyone brings up about Piker because it would also impact their favourite mouthpiece if people woke up to it.

He’s been able to mobilize his fans to help elect Dem Socialists across the board.

This is good. People are rallying behind a cause and toppling entrenched wealth for it. People do these absurd purity tests all the time like with Piker and forget the bigger picture or fail to think long term. No one will pass every purity test. Ever. People just need to recognize tackling the biggest issues and keeping momentum is important

I view it more as society as a whole doesn’t tackle that topic and so people fall in line with someone if that makes sense. No one is specifically giving him the influence.

Dems 100% do not obsess over any twitch streamer…

Even if he switched from designer clothes to a suit when streaming in his mansion.

Literally the only articles I see in reference to him, is headlines insisting he’s important and the party hates him…

If any of that was true, if the party was “obsessing” about him…

They’d kind of at least have to be talking about him.

But I never see those, just constant insistences from this twitch streamer claiming he’s super important

While politicians and pundits try to make this race about a Twitch streamer, we’re going to be talking about gas, groceries, good schools, and healthcare,” El-Sayed said in a statement on Monday. “Because that’s what Michiganders keep asking about. It’s why I’m fighting to get money out of politics, money in your pocket, and Medicare for All.”

That’s not “obsessing over Hasan Piker”…

Some jackass twitch streamer keeps claiming to be speaking for anyone that’s progressive, despite those progressives never acknowledging him. Until it gets to the point where Faux News and neoliberals start accusing those progressives of supporting Hasan, because they’re ignoring him.

That pulls actual politicians into having to say “no, that fucking twitch streamer I’ve never talked to does not represent me or my campaign anymore than any other idiot with a webcam”.

If anyone is obsessed, it’s Hasan. But he’s not obsessed with anything besides his bank account and views.

El-Sayed held a rally with Piker. Since, almost every liberal publication has put out an editorial about how horrible it is to be seen in public with him. I think you are really missing the boat on this

When has he claimed he is speaking for “anyone that’s progressive”?

You are projecting shit onto Piker to make it easy to tear him down and it is obvious to everyone but you.

Ohhh I recognize this guy now. He banned me for being both “too sincere” and a “troll account” in one go. He’s the very definition of a petty internet janitor.

Seriously. All any of the centrist Dems have talked about this week is Piker. The last few months as well, but it has really kicked up lately.

Terrifyingly this is also maybe the only strategy establishment democrats could take that seriously brings into play the possibility they will lose the midterms to conservatives.

I dont get why corporate media and establishment dems have decided that hasan piker is relevant. The guy is a twitch streamer. Not that many people have actually heard of him. Big deal.

They’re using his stage appearances at progressive campaign events to attack progressive candidates, but in order for those attacks to work they have to make him more well known among no-brain moderates who don’t know anything but what they’re spoonfed.

The thing I hate about all this is that if I were a foreign adversary, streamers are the exact people I’d use to rile people and push division. It’s the ideal arena. You don’t even need to be pushing money to a streamer to lead them to water, it’s a very… manipulation prone platform. They’re also online 24/7, so finding a dividing chink in the armor is all too easy.

Just look at the downvotes in this thread.

Don’t get caught up in the energy of personality and fame that the media is feeding, pay attention and focus on issues. It doesn’t matter what side of the fence the streamer falls on, they’re being inorganically boosted specifically because they cause division. Ignore the streamer, speak to the issues that matter to you.

True, but Hasan Piker is a gifted speaker and he is definitely worth listening to.

He is just getting hyperboosted by the mainstream media’s pathetic attempt to take him down backfiring spectacularly to a point of absurdity, something Hasan regularly and explicitly recognizes.

I’d certainly never heard of him before all this.

…the signal boost has been… weirdly obsessive around Hasan by establishment media there is no other way to describe it, if people watch his videos and listen to some of what he says and disagree… fine but this hysterical fear mongering around Hasan is bombastic bullshit, he streams constantly of course he is going to put his foot in his mouth every once in awhile but those moments are drowned out by hours and hours of basically Bernie Sanders style politics from a younger standpoint that is more “radical” I guess… but in spirit? Not really.

I will not stand for a villainization of Hasan Piker as someone who is antisemitic or embraces violent ideologies that are antihumanist, that doesn’t mean I think everyone needs to agree with Hasan Piker because I like what he says, but this attempt to project these attributes onto Hasan Piker is simply not supported by the evidence, glaringly so.

Well said. This is all a distraction from how poorly the DNC is doing and how they’re protecting their donors over constituents.
