Does the USA have a greater share of plug-in hybrid than China?
Some car manufacturers seem to invest more in hybrid than EV. Hybrids probably are not the wisest choice in most cases. It may give people the false impressions their car has lower emissions, which may not be the case if they aren’t constantly recharging.
No - its roughly 2%.

By market share does it mean new sales or actively in use?
Probably also helps that China makes EVs that are actually affordable, which Americans aren’t allowed to buy.

The Chinese know how to bend the market to get the effect they want in a way that it becomes self sustaining once they remove those distortions.

What bending is done aside from subsidies and similar incentives?
In the megacities like Beijing, vehicle registration is tightly controlled to help manage congestion and pollution. EVs have more relaxed rules in those setups which provides a good incentive to get an EV.
Similar in a way to London’s congestion and ultra low emissions zones, except there the incentive is financial - you have to pay £12-15 a day to drive in them if you have the “wrong” vehicle type.

I also recently joined the electric club. I’m surprised how much power i got for the price.
Yeah, even low midrange EVs will out accelerate a gas car by a kinda comical amount, and the horsepower you can get is ridiculous. It’s always hard to resist smoking the douchy camero in my neighborhood when he peels out at a green light.
Also, pro tip: if your car has a recovery eye, pick up some decently strong tow straps or chain to keep in the car - many EVs are deceptively heavy and will snap the cheap common straps.

Such a shame - probably also influenced by states increasing taxes on EVs (done way too soon, and the only effect is to suppress EV adoption).
Something like 40 States have added taxes/fees for EVs to “make up for lost gasoline tax revenue” - despite the fact that adoption is… pitiful.
I’m curious what the current numbers are - the dealerships in my area can’t keep EVs in stock they’re selling so fast. I had to go to fully another state to pick mine up.
