If you are a big fan WD-40 then use WD-40 White Lithium for lubrication because normal WD-40 is not a lubricant.
If you don’t want it covered in white goop, or it’s a lock, use dry lube. WD-40 used to sell a ptfe lube that worked really well, but I don’t know if it’s still available.
It does lubricate, but it’s not as effective as dedicated lubricants.
It almost seems like it’s a multi purpose tool, just like duct tape
Which is also one of the worst tapes for the job its named for.
Actually duct tape sucks at most jobs its used for. It dries out, it cracks, its not airtight, the glue degrades quickly…
Because it was just trademark dodging, you should be using it on ducks
Cos it’s actually a trademark-avoiding name for unbranded Duck Tape.
Gorilla brand tape is a lot better than the generics.
The adhesive is strong enough to remove coatings/surfaces, or rip weaker woods apart (after sitting long enough).
It’s pretty permanent.

PB Blaster for stuff that’s stuck together (rusted bolts).
Big fan of silicone, dry lube or lithium otherwise (depending on lubrication needs).
Throw a tube of dielectric grease in there and a lot of heavy machine grease and this is my lube cabinet
