I had a bit of an unusual diet (for me) yesterday. I exclusively ate bread, nuts, hummus, and various fruits including a few dates at the end of the night. When I woke up this morning I was a bit sweaty and my partner asked me if I was making coffee or like making caramel candies or something. I had no idea what she was talking about and joked, “it’s just my natural musk”. Anyway turns out it was. I legitimately smell like fresh caramels.
Eat more dates?
Specifically I had banana, peanut butter, sourdough, cinnamon, pear, cashew, pistachio, bell pepper, hummus, and cucumber.
You smell good homie, I have to dose myself with deodorant and even then by the end of the day am stinky.
I’ve always been blessed with not being stinky. For whatever reason, even after sweating a lot, I just don’t smell like BO much at all. It is rare that I naturally smell good though, especially not like a sweet treat after waking up sweaty.
Not to humble brag or anything it’s just weird. Human bodies and their differences are strange.
idk, but smelling good can certainly get you dates.
Not that I’ve noticed and I eat like 2 kilos of dates a week.
Not the dates then, unless my body is particularly weird which does happen sometimes
Have you been either taking fenugreek supplements or using it as a seasoning, maybe in your hummus? That will cause you to sweat out glucose. Most people just end up smelling like maple syrup.
I have smelled like maple syrup in the past too! I don’t take a fenugreek supplement and while I do enjoy cooking with it I haven’t had it recently so I don’t think it was that.
there’s a couple diseases that can cause that too, but they also make you feel like absolute fucking dogshit when it happens (and the big one, diabetic ketoacidosis, specifically smells like fruit instead of syrup) so you’d know if it was one of those
Thankfully not diabetes but it is something I need to keep an eye out for so thanks for the tip
Coffee is the pit of a fruit, and a light roast will keep some of the sugars while caramelizing others. Those show up in coffee as the tart and fruity flavors you taste. Given what you ate I think those fruit sugars combined with no bitters (smoking, alcohol, etc) that drove the coffee and caramel smell.
I do be smokin
Maybe sharks just enjoy the smell of dates
We do exude odors from the foods we eat. You may have noticed individuals who smell of garlic or onions. Asian friends have told me people in the U.S. tend to smell like milk/dairy or meat. It seems probable that, yes, your diet gave you a lingering odor.
