And if you’re too busy to torture them, there’s a bustling industry that will not only torture them for a fee, but also kidnap them in the middle of the night to a secluded cabin in the woods

Do me a favor and regularly just call transphobes cowards.

Here they are picking on a small group of outcasts because they know they can get away with it, and they’re using the government to make life a living hell for us just because they can.

If you have to deal with these scum IRL, I want you to point out they’re absolute cowards. Cowardice is the one vice not even they can rebrand as edgy.

I, John Brown, am now quite certain that the crimes of this guilty land will never be purged away but with blood. I had, as I now think vainly, flattered myself that without very much bloodshed it might be done.

Lol checked reddit-logo and they’re like “uhm actually, it only overturns talk therapy. So actually this is a win for liberalism.”

Liberals’ obsession with “free speech” so long as it literally isn’t illegal-to-say or anything positive of communism is the funniest shit, if it didn’t result in the worst things. It IS legal to tell gay kids they’re going to hell and that they would be stoned to death in a biblical world. It is NOT legal to say to any elected official the same. This is a very wise and beautiful world view.

“this incremental and small change is consequential actually. we’re making a difference! now we can just keep finishing the job!”

“wait what do you mean no one wants to go any further than this and keeps telling me that i’m the real radical. how could this have happened.”

the problem with liberalism is that it makes one’s myopic desire for good vibes into the one and only virtue. people sometimes overcome their liberalism when policies that do not go far enough to alleviate their issues are championed as the highest reasonable possible policy, outside the bounds of which one must be a traitorous radical to advocate for.

Counselor Kaley Chiles, with support from President Donald Trump’s Republican administration, said the law wrongly bars her from offering voluntary, faith-based therapy for kids.

    big-honk Voluntary for whom?

There are a lot of kids out there who are so terrified of being othered by the culture they were raised in that they’ll voluntarily submit themselves to conversion therapy. Obviously that’s indicative of a much bigger problem, and that’s only compounded by the fact that plenty of parents who consider conversion therapy an option think they own their kids, so they can do anything with them that they want.

Colorado’s evangelicals are surrounded by states that try to be Israel for cow demons. They could move in any direction and live somewhere more friendly to them. They’re next to Utah and could unlock an unlimited family abuse cheat code if they just go somewhere else. Instead they choose to spread their filth to the one place they’re explicitly not welcome in.

There’s no hate like Christian love. Unlimited Bolsheviks on the clergy.

Colorado’s evangelical KKKri$$tians live in a state of constant frothing rage that the majority of the state’s population, who live in the narrow corridor of the front range excepting the Springs, are not as demonic as they are.

Colorado Springs, Weld County, and the ranchers are the bane of my existence. Why would you try to spread Texas here when Texas is what you already want and is right there? I moved here because it was a Bernie state in 2016 and I wanted to be around people who think like me because it’s easier to make the state I want.

edit: And to highlight the absurdity of it, those right-wing states in the Rockies are better versions of the Rockies. More wild, more permissive hunting and land laws, way cheaper to live in. The right-wing Plains states all have a better rural future as Colorado rapidly experiences climate change. This is the last place I’d want to live if I was a right-winger.

I an curious whether there is a mechanism for the licensure board for counselors to revoke licenses for those who engage in knowingly harmful practices? Or is that not a thing in Colorado?

    • i would imagine the state professional org could strip licensing based on their own professional requirements, in the way that any medical doctor could lose their license to practice by being a dangerous quack.

but that only goes so far, as cranks can still go to quacks and quacks can still treat them as long as they disclose their lack of licensure and avoid claiming associated clinical terminology. or being caught “practicing medicine”, so to speak.

ive also heard that state licensing boards can be cowardly about booting out member groups out, like we’ve seen with some shithead doctors in Texas being antivax and not being obliterated from the roles.

apparently, these professional associations are not a great way to protect the public. rather, they are kind of a last ditch to protect the members and their reputations from a lone, dangerous quack and not a way to stop a form of treatment some amount of members have bought into.

that’s my analysis anyway. public health seems in complete contradiction to capitalism, so the courts seem predisposed to protect dangerous cranks, evil charlatans, and snake oil sellers if they have a lot of capital in their corner, backing their bullshit.

Right, the US government is also not a great way to protect the public as we see here so I’m kind of grasping at options. I think it would be easier for activists to focus on the professional orgs than the government directly, but as you said, the concept of public health is not particularly compatible with capitalism at the core.

“Counselor” is the legal cutout for people who are doing the job of a shrink but without any of the training, professionalism, licensure, or oversight you might hope for from someone in that role.

That’s the thing, we already have licensed, protected types of mental health professionals. But these so-called “counselors” are an end run around that whole system to allow KKKri$$tians and other evil death cultists to pose as mental health professionals in order to prey on vulnerable people.

Look, I’m going to make an actual effort to cool it with the BMF-tier sephiroth posting for once. I’ll just leave it with this:

Sick of bigots pretending they’re edgy when they’re the establishment with all the power.
