This is impressive evidence that there isn’t “The Internet” any more.
90% of the dots in this image basically never personally appear on what I perceive as “The Internet”, which is just the Euro-North-American-centric bubble I happen to reside in.
Kinda sad.
So how is it that the “west” feels so dominant on the internet? I mean, know china has it’s own relativly closed online ecosystem. Is the same the case for other big countries on this chart? Is there a ecosystem for india? For nigeria?
Or is everybidy excluding china using the americanised version of the internet? As a german i’d say we just use american websites and apps, TikTok beeing the only relevant deviation to that i can think of right now.
