Missouri workers earning minimum wage received a New Year’s gift as the state’s minimum wage increased to $15 per hour on Wednesday, marking the final step in a gradual increase approved by voters in 2024.
it’s nice, but it’s been over a decade since people started talking about needing a $15 minimum wage, with inflation that same value is more like $20 now
You’re not wrong.
Huh I was told this will decimate small businesses blah nlah
Maybe decimate a few greedy fucks’ ability to buy a third car or something, and good. I hope it does.
My job gives me market-based raises, so I’m hoping this cash rolls uphill. We’ll see.
Great news, and not trying to shit on a win, but it obviously isn’t enough. Yes, it’s better, but nobody can support a full family, house, and vehicle by themselves on that.
2/3 of the US states still hold to the federal, a measly $7 an hour, so this feels pretty huge to me. It’s definitely just a start, but a good one.
The news isn’t all bad today, at least.
