I will point out that CBC is on Flipboard, which you can follow automatically from Mastodon.
Yes. This has been great. So I consider them part of Mastodon even if it’s a bit unofficial.
They should really get off X and join either Bsky or Mastodon officially though.
Yes, I agree.
I think the aim is that public institutions like the CBC should be supporting open platforms or creating and using their own ones, instead of being dependent on, and promoting a fascist owned US one. Getting it via Flipboard doesn’t help with that. If I was Canadian I’d be angry that my taxpayer or license money promotes X.
They could always just start their own webpage with an RSS feed, and/or their own mastadon instance. There’s really no reason for any government body to be on Xitter.
You most certainly can do this, but expect a firehose of posts. https://www.cbc.ca/rss/
Corporations shouldn’t be on social media in any way.
I mean, that’s a fine sentiment to hold, but kind of like saying we should ban death.
We have completely commercial-free amateur radio bands because of strong legislation and a lot of coordinated effort. It’s not impossible to do something like that, but capitalist realism definitely can make it feel impossible.
It has been bothering me too that the TDSB and TPS still posts their stuff there too.
