    Fascism.

    I only have one positive thing to say about it and that is that as an ideology it is perfectly adaptable to the needs of the state, because that is ultimately the only thing that matters to fascism.

    There’s some quotes from Giovanni Gentile on the topic but I can’t be bothered to look them up, the point is that fascism has no ethics or moral lines so the only thing that matters is convenience in the moment.

    The people won’t accept an absolute dictator? Fine. We’re a constitutional monarchy like Italy. Except we’ll just ignore the Constitution with emergency powers that never end, but don’t worry, the king and parliament are still in charge, technically.

    Public healthcare non negotiable? Great, absorb healthcare into the state and use its powers to punish your “enemies.”

    Catholic majority? Obviously the Pope is the supreme spiritual authority.

    Muslim? We are the heirs to the Caliphate.

    Etc etc etc.
