    That’s dumb.
    You could save money and weight by using a battery 1/3 the size with only 600 miles of range.

      I think that number is an extrapolation of the energy density with typical battery pack weights.

      So really they are saying they can have a battery that is 1/3rd the size and charge in a few minutes. Which is a giant advancement.

      A Tesla 3 has a GVWR 4,700-5,100lbs with 1,000lbs of that being a battery that gives you ~260-300 miles of range. They could get that down to ~150lbs of battery and maintain the same range. For context, 10 gallons of gas weighs like 63lbs.

      Solid state also makes electric sportscars viable, which is neat.

      Exactly. Let’s not build yet more expensive cars with overkill capacity. We need smaller, lighter, and cheaper vehicles with good enough capacity.
