I wonder if they are setting up Akira losing access to Alpha. He says this chapter that he really should learn how to do stuff, but then lets her take care of it. Then all the other hunters keep talking about how he performs way better than it would seem. I feel like he has really become dependent on her. Early in the series they made a point of training and fighting without her help, but not so much anymore.
