I find we have multiples of something like screwdrivers of particular types and sizes and tape measures and then still can’t find them in any of the places.
My struggle is I sort by use case and my partner by type. So I will have an electrical kit with the screwdrivers I need, small pliers, marrettes etc. They will sort all the screwdrivers, pliers, connectors etc into drawers together. Meaning I have to build the kit every time I go to do something and inevitably forget something.
That sorta sounds to me like jennie and obby in the comic with him being by type and her by project. My wife and I have the same issue as she likes to make little kits as well. Likely it comes down to how someone uses tools. I am a type because I am generally only grabbing tools for a random fix or such. I don’t really do any projects but since she does projects she likes to have the kit. Even when doing the same thing she will go over and gather everything she needs a head of time and then gets massively upset if she missed something. I tend to just grab each tool as I find I need them and am much more likely to use something that is close enough.
I’m lucky if any of the tools actually make it back into a tool box.
