The law approved late Wednesday applies to those younger than 21 and calls for 15 years in prison for any violators, as well as a $50,000 penalty and the revocation of all licenses and permits of medical staff.

“Minors, having not yet reached the necessary emotional, cognitive, and physical maturity, are particularly vulnerable to making decisions that can have irreversible consequences,” the law reads. “Therefore, it is the State’s duty to ensure their comprehensive well-being.”

“Minors, having not yet reached the necessary emotional, cognitive, and physical maturity

Ah yes, “Minors” which are what 18, 19, 20, and 21 year olds are

These scum give away their game right away, they want to kill Trans people through denial of healthcare

Also someone should check to see if there’s a loophole for cis “minors” who require hormone therapy and gender-affirming surgery

It doesn’t really matter if they “give the game away”, most people want this. They don’t care about us and prefer this to a cis person making a choice they regret.

I’m a firm believer that “most people” don’t care about it either way, treatlerite normies don’t like trans people but most also don’t have this obsessive level of hatred displayed by the political class, it’s 100% a manufactured hate campaign by professional scapegoat artists looking for soft and vulnerable targets, a top-down path of least resistance, not a groundswell of grassroots anti-trans bigotry

Which makes liberal capitulation to these hatemongers even more infuriating, I mean for fuck’s sake Trump in 2016 ran as the supposed “pro trans” candidate, even tho that’s been utterly memory holed

This shit is only possible because liberals are holding what should be an easily locked door wide open for anti-trans murderers

Why would it be an easily locked door if most people don’t care about us? If most people don’t give a shit about our rights I don’t see how it would be easy to keep them. Especially when you do have a vocal minority that actively hates us and wishes us harm.

Also what, they gave the game away to people who don’t care? That doesn’t do anything if normies don’t care about us.

If normies don’t care, then they also don’t care when the anti-trans door is closed, as Trump proved in 2016, all it takes is the will to counter message on a national level, which dems and libs refuse to do

    • Ah yes, “Minors” which are what 18, 19, 20, and 21 year olds are

Okay so I think trans healthcare should be available to minors, so moot on that point.

But I will point out I see a lot of people in leftist spaces (including this one) argue that the age of adulthood is too low and should be raised, sometimes as high as 25.

This is because people in this site are basically reactionary to libertarians (which I get it, see user name). Age of consent and other associated laws should exist and be enforced because of the potential for wild power dynamic imbalances and abuse.

However, there is absolutely no material basis for the idea that ‘maturity’ and ‘adulthood’ is specifically tied to any age past 13-14 when the physical maturation process kicks in. I have known incredibly ‘immature’ 40 year olds (who can’t be trusted with simple tasks) who are clearly in some form of arrested development and very ‘mature’ (in that they very seriously think and plan for the future based on the information available to them, to a almost comical degrees) 13 year olds. However, it is clear to me that much of that ‘maturity’ comes from their ability to parrot the arguments of their parents, teachers, and role-models, not their actual understanding of situations. Which is fine, they are kids, I don’t have that expectation. My point is that tying these nebulous cultural concepts to a specific age, or even ‘brain development’, which is itself a very poorly understood field, is ridiculous.

My second point is that because of this healthcare of any kind should not be barred by these concepts either, and certainly not by age. Erecting artificial barriers to professional care will only lead to people seeking amateur care which has the potential to create more danger for individuals seeking treatment.

That said, if you are part of a trans activist group, now would be good time to begin attempting to coordinate with groups in PR, supplying individuals with the latest scientific medical advice and material. What cannot be won in the courts and legislature must therefore be won on the streets.

lol the anti-trans circles are already pushing that the brain “isn’t done developing” til youre 26 so thats going to be the next milestone I’m sure, then they’ll just ban it entirely. Or maybe a blanket ban will come first who knows

Cis people are a genuine hazard to trans people. No cis person should ever have the ability to make a decision on trans healthcare or general well being.

Trans people just quietly kill themselves alone and sad, it makes them an easy target that carries no cost or concern. I don’t believe they will ever stop being a target until a deterrent is established.

You can drive, you can kill and die for your country, you can vote*, you can be tried as an adult, you can have kids and pay taxes, but you can’t press pause on puberty.

Also forcing “irreversible consequences” on someone in the name of preventing “irreversible consequences” is pure dystopian evil.

*voting rights for citizens of Puerto Rico are vastly repressed compared to the states that are part of the US.
