    it means it will be hard to become a doctor in the us, as a canadian. Since its already pretty hard to become a MD from other countries in the US, you have to go through so many red tape and qualifications.

    CBC has a disturbing lack of balance in this article. Not a single person is quoted on the positive of this measure other than the minister. I highly doubt this measure was this unpopular with scholars from across the spectrum of relevant fields.

      No, I’m sure the Canadian Medical Association didn’t consult with members of the medical field over this. I can’t believe CBC didn’t quote anyone.

        They didn’t need to. The American accreditation system refusing to accredit medical schools with diversity policies and practices means Canadian medical schools would effectively be violating Canadian constitutional rights by following American accreditation standards.

        There was essentially no other choice but to do this.
