this is why janeway is the worst captain and i am petitioning starfleet to court martial her

fr i need to get a star trek writer’s ear and have them mention off hand in an episode about how janeway was court martialed because of this (including giving tech to the borg to genocide a race of aliens???)

I had taken it as a scathing criticism that while Starfleet may be all fine and diplomatic in their own section of space, outside of their original context they immediately get stripped down to their barest components of aggressive technological superiority over anything challenging them

but it could also be that Janeway is an evil fuckup too

I actually just watched the TNG episode where Picard comes back to life but as a low-ranking science officer. The way Riker and Troi just dismiss him for daring to sit at the cool kids table made me kinda dislike them.

Not just that, they seem to actually have disdain for Science Officer Picard because he doesn’t have ambition or take risks. Which is understandable considering the position they hold on the ship, but they were unnecessarily mean about it. Also, it seems weird for Riker to be casting that shade since everybody seems to shit on him for staying first-officer on the Enterprise.
